It's nearly impossible to listen to Talk 107.3

With the amount of breaks they take, it's impossible. Never once have I just scrolled through the stations and caught one of their shows actually on. Today I went and listened through a break just to see how long they'd stay on. They came on at 8:26, went back to break at 8:29.

Clarence is the worst. He will kill the momentum a caller has because he HAS to get the break in. I'm not in radio so I have no clue but why not go long with a caller and catch up later with the break?

They're required by contract with their sponsors to hit breaks at certain points, with only minimal wiggle room. And since the sponsors pay the bills, the station doesn't have much of a choice in the matter

I figured that but it just seems like they break way more than other stations. 104.5/9 doesn't break near as often.

It's better then wwl. Every 2 minutes they go to a break that's like 5 minutes long it seems.

Yeah but it's terrible. Seems like over half the time as soon as they start to hit any sort of point in a discussion they have to take a break. Basically the only time a back and forth with a caller comes to conclusion is when a caller calls to kiss some arse real quick and Clarence agrees. If there's any disagreement then Clarence is always interrupting the caller for a break.

King of New Orleans I see you there but do me a favor my man. Stay on hold and I'll get back to you after the break.

You're not going to get local news talk on XMSirius.

XM is great except for that. I like to hear After Further Review in the afternoon. And sometimes I like to hear about local events, which is probably what the OP was doing.

Depends on the station. Some stations have very few commercials.

Another thing that Clarence does that annoys the hell out of me is he won't just say what he needs to say. He will use way too many "filler" words to make the point he's making sound bigger than it really is.

"If you weren't affected by the flood.....GOD BLESS YA!....but....maybe a friend was....a coworker....a family member....a church member....and so on on so forth...."

WWL is definitely the worst. Trying to listen to Bobby and Deke is hard enough with their constant murdering of the English language. That is when you actually hear the show.

It's two minutes of talk, break, news, traffic, break, quick recap, one phone call, break, repeat.
