Actually, that article regurgitated stuff from the religion of Islam and I am simply pointing out that Jesus will come to destroy the Christian Crusaders...which is somewhat ironic.
I guess that went over ya head!

Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism , and Islam) all believe in the same God already dipshit. By your logic, Mormonism could be considered a Jewish sect too
Your logic is pretty bad also. If Islam, Judaism, and Mormonism are all considered Christian religions, it does not follow that Mormons are Jews.

You're going to lose your head if you keep acting like an apostate once your ISIS overlords are running things.

That he was. But he was also the son of God and the Messiah. They don't believe that. So Islam is not any version of Christianity.

They don't believe in the Holy Trinity, nor do they believe that Jesus died on the cross. Pretty foundational stuff to Christianity, so no, Islam is not a Christian religion.
Also, their prophet, Mohammad, was a ruthless bastard who killed or ordered many people killed. Jesus was the Prince of Peace.
Finally, their version of Heaven is a lust fest of virgins and little boys for their pleasure. Christian version of heaven is not carnal.
So next time Ahmed wants to tell you that he believes in the same god, he certainly does not.

You just get around to reading The Atlantic article?

It was well written. I took a comparative religion/philosophy class in college that explained a lot of that stuff too.

yeah, extremely well written and broken down.

Mohammad was very peaceful prior to his first wife dying.... Then believed that God commanded him (or an angel) to take over non-believing countries and what may be fundamental to Christians isn't fundamental to all. I mean even Christians sects debate on it. Which is why said it is about what you the individual believes.

and yes I read the article. however, that honestly has nothing to do with this thread. I'm just pointing out facts about Islam and mostly demonstrating that the "Muslim Jesus" who destroys the Christian nations who fight the Islamic State is rather ironic because that implies that he rejects his own followers.

tduecen, you're a fine poster and bring more to this board than I do... not that I make much of an effort. And I know you're just trolling, but your effort is rather poor and lazy in this one.
To your original post:
quote:
Islam is a version of Christianity that many Christians don't want to recognize. They believe Jesus was a prophet but that Mohammad was the last prophet of God. So therefore, they believe in the same God as Christians....
On a fundamental level, acknowledging Jesus to be a prophet does not make someone a Christian. There are many Hindus and Buddhists, for instance, who credit Jesus with being a great teacher. Given that a common definition of prophet is: A person regarded as an inspired teacher or proclaimer of the Will of God, they are effectively acknowledging Jesus to be a prophet-- yet they are not Christians. Even a Satanist, I suppose, can acknowledge God & Jesus, if only to subvert their meaning to a different end. Identifying Jesus as a prophet, then, is entirely different than making an effort to follow his teachings as a Christian might do.
Further, while Christianity and Islam stemmed off from Judaism, and thus share roots, all three of these religions have different enough values that it is not correct to call one of them by the other's name. On the simplest level, Judaism focuses on the teachings of Moses, Christianity on Christ and Islam on Mohammad. The difference between Baptists and Catholics is broad enough that you wouldn't call one the other; the difference between Islam & Christianity is far more vast and makes your comment that Islam is a form of Christianity a non-sequitur.
It isn't logical, there is nothing up for interpretation at this level and "belief" is not in play. If you "believe" what you wrote, then why don't you go visit those kindly gentlemen of ISIS and clarify the semantics with them. Perhaps if you explained to them that they are, in fact, Christians, they might, like, have an epiphany that we're not so different and you could save the rest of the world a lot of trouble.
I love a good troll, but you're half-assing this one. I "believe" in you, tduecen, so I expect that your next troll attempt in this thread-- should you continue-- will be a bit more clever.

Christianity is the belief in same God which is what the Muslim's and Jew'a believe. Everyone can have a different opinion and several "religions" now belong under Christianity. These would be more if you want to count the Islamic sector as an extremist group with the KKK fine. Yet everything I've read the JETS AND Mohammad believed in the same God Jesus worshipped, thus making them a "christian" religion.

Christians believe that Jesus is the SON OF GOD, he died on the cross and rose again. And that by accepting the gift of salvation offered by this sacrifice that all can live in heaven for eternity upon his return
Muslims just think he was the #2 prophet
the armegedon stuff is similar but not exactly the same
Satan is the great deceiver, a partial truth is an easier sell that an outright lie .Hence the Muslims co-opting of the message. But you end up in the same place
HELL
