Is what the US did in WWII the most impressive thing a country’s ever done?

Fought (and won) on two sides of the world, thousands of miles from its homeland, while supplying a lot of two allies’ militaries. All while actually strengthening its economy and making massive technological advancements and barely losing a soul on US soil. And after our initial losses in the Pacific, Philippine Islands, etc. not really losing a major military engagement.

The Roman Empire maybe could’ve done that but I’m not so sure.

ETA: I’m not a fan of FDR at all, I think he’s one of the worst, most dictatorial presidents in US history hands down. But not because of his prosecution of the war.

Americans have achieved so many things that others though were impossible....But I would agree that what took place here and abroad during WW2 saved the world.

You'll have people on here shortly trying to convince you that the Soviet Union/Russia did most of the heavy fighting even though they got it handed to them 40 years earlier one on one against Japan.

That's because the US fed, clothed, and transported those mongrels all the way to Berlin

I think the American Revolution was far more improbable and more impressive.

The Soviets tied down the majority of the Germans on the Eastern Front. I still think we would beat the Germans without the Soviets. But the war would last multiple years longer.

I’m talking more however about the fact that we were able to support our own military on two completely different sides of the world. There isn’t a country that I can think of that could do that.

Agreed

But we were pretty damn good Nazi killers as well. And we were the ones that completely crippled Nazi infrastructure and supply capabilities.

No.

The most impressive thing the US has ever done was to transform The Enlightenment from a philosophy to a blueprint for Western Culture via the tenets of the Declaration of Independence.
