Surprisingly, I’ve seen the Cameron beaches quite clear (by their standards) for several weeks each of the last two late summers/early fall. But it’s never looked like your picture. More like Galveston or Biloxi as opposed to chocolate milk. And as I previously stated, it was very short lived. Maybe 2-3 weeks.

A rancher once told me the toughest cows he's ever dealt with are from Cameron. Between the mosquitoes and marsh, they have to be tough.

lol. And you are correct. You can hear them hitting your windshield. I thought it was horse flies at first. When I slowed, I realized it was mosquitoes.

Link to Google Earth view

The saturation on the pic you've posted has been turned waaaay the frick up. From the satellite pic, the sand looks good but the water is about what you would expect being nestled between both the Calcasieu and Sabine empty into the Gulf.

Not as much dumping into it from the Sabine I think is what they said.

The Calcasieu I would think more than the Sabine for Cameron Beach. Both of them would affect from Holly Beach West. But they will always be fairly muddy. When I was a kid, you hit mud wading in that area, not that I would probably do that these days, kind of horrified I every went into that water to recreate.

I was wrong. I meant the house is West of Holly Beach between the Sabine and Calcasieu by Johnson's Bayou

Sabine has zero effect on Cameron parish, the mermentau river does. Cal and Mermentau rivers both turn west when they exit into the gulf as does Sabine.

It’s ashame but I don’t see how people can keep putting money in camps down there with insurance and a devastating hurricane every 10 years on avg. Cameron population has dropped significantly the last 20 years and will be nothing but workers down there before too long

Rutherford Beach has had blue water every now and then over decades. It's rare.

There are basically Holly Beach and Rutherford Beach. The "surfer" beach was Dung Beach back in the 60's and 70's. Nickname due all the cow shite on the beach from wintering herds.

McNeese Chem prof, JD Tauber, had a camp there at the end of the small row of camps. One Monday morning he came into class cussing us out and saying why can't we do it in the sand like they did when he was young. Apparently, someone broke in just to use his bed to have fun.

Family owns two lots of land At Rutherford Beach since the 50s. One lot was the last lot to the West before the cattle guard.(Pre Rita) after Rita, we can’t find our property as they are under water. My grandpa still pays his taxes on the property every year! My parents still bring the grandkids in the summer. Lots of great memories growing up in that dirty water.
