100 w a lamps have been replaced with 72w xenon/halogen mixed lamps. You can get the same light output out of an LED though, and quite frankly, you would be stupid not to

best part of LEDs is moving into a new house with a shitton of random bulbs (swirly twirly CFLs, some random wattage incandescent, etc etc) they were going out on me every week.

once i finished the update, i haven't had a single bulb go out since.

about the only thing i've done is trade some older/cheaper LEDs in for better/newer ones at home depot and lowes.

no more burned out lights

I miss the A style lights that are actually bright to light up a room. Can you still buy them out of the country? This going green is crap!

When the bulb rule kicked in, many on the internet were going apeshit crazy about it, like the government was taking all their bulbs away or something.

With time, folks saw that the new bulbs -- like fire-proof baby clothes and lead-free paint -- are actually better in many ways.

I bet not one of them would admit now that they overreacted like a hysterical child, but their Facebook posts from the time are proof of same.

Also, don't make stuff nearly as hot... but maybe that's just in my head. I swapped out all my pot lights in the kitchen and it seems cooler.

Nope led's are much cooler.

And this winter, I'll be buying an led setup for my "pot" lights.

Edison's bulb is effectively contraband now, particularly at the 100w flavor. Gone the way of the dodo bird, sacrificed on the alter of the Green Religion.

They're an ancient design. Calling it green religion just sounds like something am ignorant recheck would say. With the spectrum and long lasting leds, why would you want a sky high electric bill? Cuz Merica?

I really wish that were true but so far I'd say the life is well below 10 years in actual practice.

You can buy 100 watt incandescent bulbs in Cuidad Acuna across the border from Del Rio. Ask for Rico Suave. Of course you'll have to give 10 bucks to the Mexican border police to come back on this side.
