A lot of the reward cards actually charge the business the reward you are given.

My hair salon just started charging 3% more if I use a credit card. Assholes.

I travel around MS a good bit and see this from time to time. I have just about figured out what places will charge more for CC...I bring cash!

Mima's Kitchen.
Best damn breakfast tacos in Texas, but they don't take cards.
The fees add up quick.

It's rare that I encounter a retail or restaurant business that did not take AMEX, much less refuse a credit card of any kind. Even the food trucks here take AMEX.

I like having miles contributed to my account.

My cousin has his own business and paid $16K in processing fees in 2016 for credit cards I'd say that is a good enough reason depending on how big/small the business is

How much less would his take have been to not accept plastic? Takes money to make money.

And because of the governments involvement in regulating credit cards, business are eating more

And usually passing the fees onto all customers, including ones paying cash.

I wanted a King Cake from Hi-Do the other day. They were cash only.
I think some just really don't like losing that 2.5-3% processing fee.

New Orleans is the kind of city where retail businesses that don't take cards probably wouldn't lose many customers.

This is actually a violation of their merchant account agreement.

You don't want to pay the withdrawal fee and they don't want to pay the processing fee, lets see who wins

No miles, no sale. A casual restaurant not taking plastic is worse than offering Pepsi products to me.

It's 2017. Even vending machines take plastic.
