Is the necktie obsolete? Why do we still wear it?

The tie has to be one of the most pointless pieces of apparel in existence today.

Any symbol of money gets the panties wet.

You'd know that if you had any.

I've never understood the point in neck ties. I wear them when I have to, but I'm never happy about it.

Whoever decided back in the day that men should wear a piece of fabric tied around their neck to look formal is the first person I'm kicking in the nuts when time travel becomes a thing.

It protects my shirt at lunch and is a sign of style, in some cases.

Do you mean noose that keeps the heat trapped inside of the shirt?

I hate those things

It hides some of men's fatness (when work with a jacket), so far from obsolete.

It's all John fricking Kennedy's fault.

Before JFK, men went to work like this:

After JFK, suits started falling out of favor and what used to be the symbol of class and masculinity became the must have accessory for neckbeards. Ugh.

I never understood people's hatred for wearing ties. I don't look forward to it, but it doesn't bother me to do.

You talking about fedora's? Because it's believed the automobile killed the fedora.

No he is firmly behind the douche nozzle that decided on the 5 days on 2 days off work week.

Tie guy was obviously a homogay too. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Honestly, I think they don't understand how to tie one comfortably. I see people yanking at it all the time like the tie is a noose. You don't have to tie it so tightly where it resembles a python strangling you to death.

When people say they would go back and kill Hitler, I always say that I would find the a-hole who invented the tied and strangle him with his first creation.

A good tie can bring a whole outfit together. I usually only wear them for my big work meetings or formal outings. I actually enjoy wearing a tie now and again. Dressing nice can be fun.

Try this, wear a Boutonnière every day.

Find a florist on the way to work, buy a single budding flower and pin it to your jacket.

Tie optional, but it's amazing how eye catching and appreciated from both men and women of the office.

I would have laughed if I hadn't seen it work myself. Dude was all of a sudden a God in the office. It really takes your style up a notch. We've never worn one save prom or marriage....wear it at the office and you are a level above.

This is the best pic I can find, which shows that it isn't used enough.

Fashion, in general, is a pointless industry. There is money to be made so free market it up, but think about it. If any form of engineering is suddenly set back 100 years, transportation, commerce, and the world economy comes to a grinding halt. Same goes medicine or any other applied field.

If fashion is suddenly set back 100 years, we just go back to wearing waistcoats, trousers, and corsets for the ladies. It doesn't matter. This is what I tell anyone that gets all pretentious about fashion.

Frick a necktie!
