If you are looking for linguini sucking wiseguys dressed like they're going to an Opera/Machine Gun massacre, that hasn't ever existed.

If you are looking for simple organized crime, sure. Its still out there, and its fighting an increasingly complex war with law enforcement to remain concealed-- but whether its something falling off the back of a truck, or disappearing from a warehouse inventory with a delete keystroke, it can still and does still happen.

Donaldsonville has deep ties to the Marcello Crime Family. Kenny Matassa, the Parish President is a blood relative. Shaheen of Shaheen & Associates, a construction firm which does a ton of parish work, is married to a Marcello. Marcello's Distributors, based in Donaldsonville, is owned by a blood relative of Carlos Marcello.

The mob owns Donaldsonville and runs Ascension Parish.
