Is the College Drive Walmart the worst managed Walmart in the country?

I went to the College Drive Walmart this morning and waited 30 minutes in the checkout line. There were only four regular checkout lines open and lines of customers extending past the aisle. No manager was in sight to rearrange staff to pick up the slack. Of course today is an LSU football game day and there were plenty of people in the store to prepare for tailgating or family/friend gatherings, along with others doing their regular shopping. It is commonplace at this Walmart to see fewer open checkout lines than necessary to accommodate the customers in the store. I've shopped at quite a few Walmart stores around the country and have never seen one that is so poorly operated.

Odds are good that it's not.

Never understood why they have 20 lanes when they never use more than 10 even during the holiday shopping season

this Walmart broke me from all WMarts. I now spend an extra 5 dollars and keep my blood pressure in check.

According to Google the worst rated Walmart in America is either Martinsburg, WV or "Steelyard", wherever that is.

All Walmarts are notorious for having only a minimum of registers open and long lines.

I've been there a couple of times. What you experienced is typical. Nothing to do with football. Avoid.

Tchopitoulas Wal-Mart laughs at this thread.

Walmart purposefully understaffs in all areas. There is a certain amount of hours per week slotted to each department. The amount of hours slotted to each department is not chosen on the basis of what is needed to check out customers in a timely manner or to keep the shelves fully stocked. They are chosen to maximize profits. It's also possible they had some call-ins on top of that.

A few years ago after a hurricane scare, I forget which one, that Walmart was so bad that corporate flew in a group of people from Arkansas to take control. Not sure what management changes they made, but they didn't stick or improve things much.

Checkout lines always take forever there and yet people still come in droves to do their shopping, all while the store operates at a minimized labor cost and increased profit. Sounds like they know what they're doing

College Drive isn't even the worst managed Wal Mart in Baton Rouge.
