I work for AT&T. I think I've mentioned it on here before.

I work for GE and we do this unless crap also. Just something that upper management thought would be good.

I earned my 7th sigma black belt by the time I turned 8. Them mastered BJJ by 12. Get at me.

My department is far removed from any that would be utilizing such a thing so I really have no idea. Perhaps it's a good thing. I'm not begrudging the guy but like someone said before it doesn't seem like a job title more of an impressive certification.

I know a guy who put his as "Supreme Allied Commander" on the internal company address book

GE is where it became mainstream. It's nothing new, really but just takes things that save production cost and encourage efficiency and make them more organized.

It's a certification of efficiencies of process. It's not a job title. These guys are very real and easily make 6 digits in companies. They are basically operations/process auditors.

i've had to study it, but trying to make it work in a military environment gets interesting...

I'm glad I'm self employed and don't have to deal with ridiculous crap like this.

I know a guy working as a LSS consultant independently and he banks $250k easily a year. That stuff works and there is a huge demand for it if you are good at it (most people are not)

One of the best professors I had was six sigma black belt certified.

This stuff was developed in the 1920's by Walter Shewhart.

I'm a lean six sigma green belt. It's very real.

How do you get the belt certification?
How long does it take it?
How hard is it.

They offer training at my company for employees wanting to become a Black Belt.

Not sure but I think it's a year... maybe two? I know it is not a quick training regimen.

Considering some of the simpletons who have done it at my company, it can't be that difficult.

It is a certification, but can be a title for a particular position. Many companies, such as GE which has been mentioned in this thread will have a position within a particular business group with the title "Six Sigma Black Belt", this person usually works on finding areas where Six Sigma can be applied within their business group.
