I'd say it's a material but I have a friend who says it's a pattern.

can have that type of cotton, but not seersucker without the pattern

The term "seersucker" from hindustaní, which comes from the Persian words "shir o shekar", and it means milk and sugar (visual interpretation of what seersucker looks like). So, ´pattern´ and ´fabric´, eh?

The wife said.. I can't wear my new balance with the seersuckers b/c it looks retarded.. Gotta love her brutal honesty .
