So does that mean my cars on blocks in the yard are a etiquette faux pas?

Do you live on my street? Why shouldn't we park in the yard? It's my damn yard.

Who wants to get blocked in the driveway. But you are right, the heat from the engines kills the damn grass.

Unless you're off a gravel road in the middle of who fricking cares, YES, and highly inconsiderate of your neighbors, neighborhood, and their perceived property values, if you don't care about your own.

It's extremely low rent

Depends on how big your yard is.
This is the correct answer imo. ALSO, how big your family is.

Some of the comments in this thread surprised me but I'm not sure if the OP means parking like daily or sometimes.

Around where I live people have company and they park in the yard along the driveway. The ones I'm speaking of have yards the size of (on average) 8 lots/yards that you see in, say, Maplewood. Point being, they aren't poor; neither are they "trashy".

Not at all if you are a boog. Badge of honor to have junk and cam statues all over the yard. One of em even has a mannequin dressed like Kristi Malzahn that tells " Shut Up" to folks on the street. Pure T Class!

I park in my yard since our driveway only fits one car... but I keep my grass cut short so you can't tell

I have few people in my neighborhood that do this and I hate it. Looks horrible.

But it is an older neighborhood and most houses have single car garage/carport/driveway and some people would rather park in their yard than on the street.

Whatever.

Still beats living in a goddamn HOA neighborhood.

This kind of behavior is probably why HOA were invented.

True, and it explains Prarieville's 400k home, double wide, 200k home, fab shop, convenience store, 400k home, used car lot front yard.

I'd rather they park in their yard than in the road.

So true.

I think that's more a lack of planning and zoning.

I hate it. But, I live in an area where a lot of people do, and my driveway is only a car wide, so I occasionally have to park off to the side, as non trashy as possible.

in my town, it is illegal to park in your yard. a friend of mine parked in his yard to wash his car and went inside to get the shite. came outside and found a citation on the windshield...cost him $500. best part is, anytime I want to get him pissed, I just mention that to him...
