The future of relationships is spiritual partnerships devoid of the selfishness and childishness that you see in most marriages today.
Why? Because what you are describing is nothing BUT childish selfish behavior.
Good marriages are partnerships. Having been married almost 4 decades to my wife is know how true this is. That partnership is defined before the vows are taken as well for almost all of them.
Most of you haven't figured this out. When there are consequences to just walking away you might just think about it first.

Marriage isn't dead. It might be in a down cycle but like all things cyclical, it will trend up. No different than liberalism, conservatism, secularism or spiritualism. It all trends.
I think people have a tendency to look at things in relation to their own existence and not from a historical perspective. marriage may evolve, but it won't go extinct.
This. Take a generation raised by selfish single parent bumble and tinder daters and the generation after that will probably want stability and self responsibility.

It also doesn't pay to get married when the couple are both on the lower end of the financial spectrum. One of the people usually lose their benefits if they get married. I know lots of plant baws who's girlfriends and kids get all kinds of benefits while they bring home 40-60k. Divorce laws and welfare need to be reformed badly.

The U.S. has more lawyers than the rest of the world combined. The men in other countries probably aren't getting gouged like Americans.

I dont think so. The fiancee is more adamant that we are staying together through anything (cept cheating or violence) than i am.

Marriage is a fine institution.
It's just that I don't want to spend the rest of my life in an institution.

You can sign a prenup if you're that worried about divorce laws.
Posted on 4/9/17 at 6:12 pm to Slippy
Why do you fck with these people so much?
Posted on 4/9/17 at 6:13 pm to TotesMcGotes
How well do prenups work?

Marriage is still alive and well for younger people in the United States. Remember, the ones bucking trends are always the loudest.

I think people are having a more logical view on marriage.
Divorce only skyrocketed when it became more socially accepted. People will look at the numbers and say "there was a time when people didn't just up and get divorces, they worked things out".
Around the early part of the century 50% of divorces ended up in divorce, now I think its only just over 30% of marriages end up in divorce, which is likely due to more people not feeling pressured to marriage. Less people get married just because a pregnancy occurs.
So is marriage as an institution dead? I say no. People are just being more careful.

Marriage is a one sided contract completely in favor of the woman
A woman is rewarded by divorcing and has incentive to do so
A man is not rewarded and has no incentive to do so
Do you guys really believe this shite.
Also, I have to disagree with the poster that said no adult needs to be supported after divorce. A spouse that has been at home raising the children does deserve something. Most of the time a court is using pretty decent logic.

No. It's being delayed but is alive and well.
Posted on 4/9/17 at 6:29 pm to Slippy
Yes I am about to leave my wife and chase a few young girls.
Posted on 4/9/17 at 6:34 pm to Antonio Moss
Yes you're correct the U.S. only has two thirds of the world's lawyers.
Posted on 4/9/17 at 6:34 pm to Slippy
I've never thought of marriage as an institution.
