I look at all of them as that is my job. I don't believe you are taking into consideration that the vast majority of riders are not triathletes on road bikes.

Then start ticketing the ones that break the law.

A friend of mine almost killed a guy on a bike. Wrecked his truck to miss him. Guy had headphones in his ear, never heard the truck coming, and swerved into the middle of the lane right in front of him.

Bikers need to think a little harder about where they're riding and how they're doing it. There's no reason for there to be an issue here.

Bikes need to either be banned from public roads and allowed back on the sidewalks where they belong or banned from the sidewalks and treated like cars (as they are now). Cyclists want it both ways and cars hate having to drive around them. It's time to let them back on the sidewalks where they belong.

Motorcyclists are just dicks with a death wish.

I have no dog in this fight and don't really care one way or the other but this issue has been blowing up the radio in New Orleans so I wanted to ask the OT. Bikers are required to obey the same traffic laws as drivers and yet they rarely do and are also almost never ticketed. Should bikers be required to ride only in areas with bike lanes? Should we allow them to use sidewalks and ban them from the roads? Whould things stay as they are?

Bikers ride motorcycles. People on bicycles are called cyclists. Leave bikers out of this discussion.

At least make an effort to follow the rules of English grammar if you plan to call someone a dumbass. I also have a MS so I don't believe I am that stupid.

There aren't sidewalks everywhere and that creates a bigger problem for people walking.

Woe is me, I have to move my right foot to the other pedal and travel slightly slower then turn my hands slightly to the left when there's an opening in traffic in the other lane, then I have to move my right foot back over AGAIN!

Life is so hard

bikers need to stay their asses on sidewalks or go find a bike trail or something and stay off busy streets...

I don't think bikes should be on roads where they can't maintain a speed somewhere around the posted speed limits.

I love it when people say this

these people would be the first people to bitch when a group of 20+ cyclists come flying by them on the sidewalk while they are trying to walk their dog or walking with their kids, and probably scream "GET OFF THE SIDEWALK a-hole!"

Well if you want to get all douchey about it...

Bikers sit their fat asses in bars and barely can handle a motorcycle. Cyclists ride bicycles. Motorcyclists and Riders ride motorcycles. LoL

It's a sidewalk not a bike lane.

Let's get the obvious out of the way and go ahead and say most drivers don't follow laws either. Secondly, I'm a firm believer that the Idaho Stop should be adopted in more places. I stop at busy red lights and wait, but I'll roll through a stop sign or non-busy red light if no one is there to yield to.

Its just dangerous. It's not abnormal for several cars in front of you to switch lanes suddenly and then you're staring at a cyclist rapidly approaching you because you're doing 45 and they're doing 15.

It may be legal but it doesnt make it smart.

extremely unsafe and as a cyclist I would vote for this to be a ticketable offense with suspension of biking on public roads priviledges for 1 year.

I have seen very few bikers doing this.
