I've always wanted to check out Texas Direct Auto and have been told that they are really good, but buying sight unseen just seems crazy.
I bought from them in 2010 and a co worker bought a year later.
The car was on Ebay and was a good deal, I put the deposit on a CC and rented an economy car and drove to their lot. The place is super busy but they had the car ready when I got there. They handed me the keys and told me to take it for a test ride or mechanic to have it checked out. I drove it around and did an inspection. I came back and brought up 2 minor defects not listed, they replaced the mustang graphic on the side of the car and cut me a check for $75 for a headlight bracket that was broken that they did not have in local stock.
I had my check from my bank already with me, but they have an onsite finance dept.
Once I agreed to that , they asked if I would leave ebay feedback before I left , thats how they maintain their outstanding feedback rating. I agreed and they followed me to the airport to drop off my rental and I headed back to BR.
Still driving the car today without any issues, I feel I got a good deal.

Bought 2 vehicles from the internet. First was through autobytel during the dial up internet days and saved 2 thousand over the best deals from local dealers. Last one was from nearby dealer and was pleasant compared to haggling in person. Showed up at dealer and looked at vehicle and met internet guy. Drove the car and left. I to,d the guy I was going to another dealer to look at exact same car but with better price. Gave him my card and told him to call if he could do better. Got a call the next day from the 2 dealers and went with the best price.

With my truck I worked only with the internet sales. I had a guy in Hammond that I got a price on the truck I wanted and agreed on it ahead of time then went in for a test drive. There was a delay in the truck so I told him about a simular truck I did like that was sitting on the lot in a BR dealership but their sales would not come close to the price I wanted. Place in Hammond did a dealer trade and gave it to me 4k less than the lowest I could get the BR dealership to go. 4 months later bought a car for my wife from same guy.

Sure is a hell of a lot nicer to be able to deal with 4 or 5 people at once without going anywhere
