FYI….the international space station is scheduled to pass over central Mississippi at about 6:20 PM tonight. Clear and no mosquitoes….check it out!

Always seems like it's 90deg overhead looking up and then as it passes, i feel stupid. Really bright and clear tonight. Even seemed "lower"

Me too. Last time I saw it, it was hauling arse. Maybe a 60 second window. This time it was a good 5 minutes.

travels from Shreveport to NOLA in basically 1 minute

orbits the Earth 1x every 90 minutes , 16 orbits per day

ISS flyover times ... LAF is currently used as the location. Just change the parameters for your geographic area of residence

Although it seems very far away to a person standing on Earth’s surface, it is only one 30th of the diameter of Earth above the surface (about 260 miles out).

If you scale it down to the earth being a basketball, the space station would be orbiting at only a third of an inch above the surface of the ball.
