Interesting reddit thread on concentration camps from the Red Army perspective

"The actual camp appeared like an untidy slaughterhouse. A pungent smell hung heavily in the air… The further we walked into the site, the stronger the smell of burnt flesh became, and dirty-black ash rained down on us from the heavens, darkening the snow… Innumerable exhausted, wretched figures with shrunken faces and bald heads were standing outside of the barracks. They didn’t know that we were coming. The surprise made many of them faint. A picture that would make everyone wither away who saw it. The misery was horrifying. The ovens [of the crematoria] were still hot and some were still blazing fiercely when we approached… We were standing in a circle, everyone was silent. From the barracks more and more hungry children were emerging, reduced to skeletons and enveloped in rags. Like ants they assembled in large groups, making noise as if they were in a large school yard. With arms extended, they were waiting, begging and screaming for bread. They were whining out of despair and wiping away their tears… Only death reigned here. It smelled of it"

Caught in our own thoughts, everyone just stood around. Nobody cared about the burning ovens. “Stop this. Out! All of you!”, the commanding officer Sergejew shouted. Outside, he was shaking and said with a stuttering voice: “How can this be in the midst of the 20th century! I can’t comprehend this. If there’d be a god, maybe he could explain how this all came to be.”
We visited the barracks and couldn’t believe our own eyes. Naked and groaning people, hardly looking like humans, were laying on straw bags. I touched one of the people laying there. He didn’t move. He wasn’t alive anymore.

There's a great show on Netgeo right now called "After Hitler"
It told the plight of the jews post concentration camp. Those who first attempted to go to isreal were actually rounded up and sent back to Europe and placed in internment camps before the "Two State Resolution" was approved for Israel and Palestine.
I also did not realize the full extent of Soviet atrocities towards POW's. Millions of average soldiers held in captivity were systematic enslaved and finally slaughtered for a decade post war.
Ethnic cleansing of German migrants in Eastern Europe was eye opening as well.

Careful now, the brainwashed sheep will go into an uproar. Typhus is what killed the several hundred thousand jews as reported by the red cross.
Now what no one ever talks about is the millions of German POW's that vanished in Russia after the war, or the millions of ethnic Germans (including women and children) that were lined up and shot in Eastern Europe years after the war.

I had the honor of meeting Brigadier General Harold A. Dye about 7 years ago. He was the featured speaker at a meeting, talking about his experience in WW2.
Before the formal meeting began, he was talking to a few of us and talked about when his unit got to the concentration camp at Buchenwald. His story was quite graphic (so you may want to skip this if you've just eaten)...
He said that they were sitting in a Jeep, and a group of prisoners had come up and surrounded them, begging for food, medical attention, etc. The scene was so disturbing that his first sergeant vomited on himself and on a couple of the prisoners. To their horror, one of the prisoners began licking the vomit up he was so hungry.

Now in Russia under capitalism, women have been treated beneath men since at least the 1990's.
I will never forget when my wife didn't understand how someone could be sleeping on the street & homeless. She didn't understand "Why they would choose to do that voluntarily".
She didn't realize that we don't have much of a system to prevent that from happening to our own citizens.

I'm not sure the USSR was "awesome" but we've also been fed decades of propaganda.
