Obama administration confirms double-digit premium hikes

quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Premiums will go up sharply next year under President Barack Obama's health care law, and many consumers will be down to just one insurer, the administration confirmed Monday. That will stoke another "Obamacare" controversy days before a presidential election. Before taxpayer-provided subsidies, premiums for a midlevel benchmark plan will increase an average of 25 percent across the 39 states served by the federally run online market, according to a report from the Department of Health and Human Services. Some states will see much bigger jumps, others less.

quote:

Moreover, about 1 in 5 consumers will only have plans from a single insurer to pick from, after major national carriers such as UnitedHealth Group, Humana and Aetna scaled back their roles.

Good god in heaven. It just keeps getting worse.

I posted it in the last thread, but right now my policy is 9k per year for a young single male with little health issues.

If the predicted numbers are correct, will go up well over 10k.

There is no way on god's green earth that I could spend 10k on healthcare without insurance.

I'd rather just pocket the 10k and come out of pocket the 2 times a year I get sick.

Somebody has got to pay for the poor's healthcare, and it isn't going to be them.

First one that has really negatively impacted my household budget. This year I have paid about 12k more in healthcare costs than prior, and we have been mostly healthy except for some back issues with my wife.. My premium is 6k of that, and out of pocket for the rest of the 6k. Not one dime of insurance reimbursement.

For those reasons I just pay the fine on my taxes.

I've saved thousands.
