Got a 15x27' room that I'm wanting to install laminate wood flooring. I have some cheap tile in there now.

What would be a good price to have it done? Roughly 400 sqft.

Any contractor recommendations? My brother said it could be done in a few hours.

Dude. Got to SAMs and buy the materials and DIY.

It is so easy a caveman can do it.

if you have the tools do it yourself, it would only take you the better part of a day to do it. It's not hard at all. Depending on how much you pay for the flooring it shouldn't be more than $500 if you do it yourself.

A chick could probably do it.

It's not hard to do this your self. Pick up a few of the laminate tools to help you and you could do it yourself easily over a weekend, at most.

Removing the tile is worse than installing the laminate.

Buy a case of beer and invite a friend over. Knock it out in a day. I did my master bedroom that size by myself and it took me 3 days alone. You got it man. It truly is easy.

Its for an enclosed garage/backroom. I'm actually concerned about the heat/moisture/humidity in the room also and how that might affect the flooring . I have a window a/c unit but it doesnt get turned on. So during the summer, it could get as hot as 90-100 degrees.

Should I scrape the laminate wood flooring idea and do ceramic tiles instead??

The room is covered with 10+ windows, so A LOT of cold air/heat/moisture/humidity is coming in the room. 20 degrees in the winters and 90+ degrees in the summer in the room.

I think all of that will ruin the laminate wood flooring, but my brother said it will be okay.

Researching further, I think for sure the weather will ruin the floor.

Wood style tiles I wish my house had this instead of the real hardwood we have. Seems they're really delicate and mark up easy.

Weather will definitely ruin it. The apartment unit I'm in had to replace all of it because A/C was left off over summer when it was vacant and the humidity got it. Definite no-go.
side note: it is very easy to install with two guys

Thanks for the input guys.

I've abolished the idea of laminate wood flooring. High humidity, extreme heat/cold, moisture, will ruin it in no time.

Now doing ceramic tiles for sure.

removing the cheap tile will be your problem - installing laminate flooring is a 3 on the 10 being the most difficult scale.

I would stay away from ceramic tiles and go with porcelain tiles. Ceramic may crack from the cold during the winter months due to not running heat in the space. Porcelain will be more expensive, but they are more durable.
