going for a conference this week that will keep me occupied during the daytime, so 5ish onward is when i'm free to do whatever ... staying downtown at the renaissance ...
1) what's the open container law? ... see that they changed it a year ago, but just want to make sure ... assume you can walk down broadway and hear/visit lots of various establishments ...

2) what's the best way to find decent music? ... don't really want to try to get tickets to a show ... prefer to walk into some place that's known for decent music (understand those places are hit/miss) ...

3) best 'hoods/scenes? ... the pharmacy? ...

appreciate the information ...

Anywhere on Broadway will have good music. As far as open container law, I'm not sure.

Don't know about open container. Didn't see anyone walking with a drink when I was there. Broadway was good. Stop by the Omni for a drink at Barlines. Nice hotel bar with good drinks, food, and decent music. They make a killer Old Fashioned.

Grab some BBQ from Jack's on Broadway, between 4th and 5th.

Not sure about walking around with open containers. They do have the pedal taverns so you don't have to restrict the drinking to just inside, but not sure you can grab a bottle and go strolling.

The band at Robert's Western World is one of the better house bands on Broadway. A lot of guys who are now session or touring musicians for major acts have started playing in the band there.

Open containers are not allowed in Nashville. Broadway will have good live music. Just pop in and out of bars. You can't go wrong with Tootsie's and the Stage.

I just got back from there Friday. I was there for a school and didn't have much down time to go check everything out. Spent a few minutes on Broadway and bolted. It was tourist heaven, but not terrible. You'll easily find some good music down there.

I found the local women to be fairly trashy. Lots of neck tattoos, lip and nose piercings, and smokers. I didn't expect that.

Eat at the Pancake Pantry. It's not at all a tourist trap.

George Jones Museum, 2nd floor bar. Have seen quite a few big acts just show up and start playing there. Most recently was Jamey Johnson

I always thought trashy women were a requirement for conferences.

Sorry, just assumed someone that had a song of the year and multiple grammy nominations would be big enough for you. I should've checked first.
