My ex wife used to have it done. You can basically pick a profile that matches you looks wise and what genetics you want. The better the candidate and sperm count, the more money

This is what we’re looking at. Besides more money are there any other drawbacks to consider?

I honestly can’t imagine any man voluntarily choosing another man’s sperm unless he couldn’t produce any.

The opposite. donor eggs in Czech Republic (Zlin) for my wife.

It will not matter to you at all. The bond will be immediate and unbelievable between you and your son/daughter from birth.

Just do it and quit over-thinking it. Going to be awesome.

I assume you are seeing a retina and vitreous specialist and hopefully one that has a special interest in inherited retinal diseases.

You think IVF is cheap, easy, or a 100% guaranteed sucess?

How about this idea:
Take the money you would have spent on IVF and invest it. Have your potentially defective child. IF at some point in the future Junior has HBP, asthma, or bad vision; the money you invested should be able to pay for plenty of BP meds, inhalers, and/or glasses? Who knows what the future holds with an anonymous sperm donor.

doesn’t hurt I’m also on the short side (5’7”) and do not have an athletic build. I’ve already told my wife we should ask for speed from a donor in near peak to peak athletic shape as well as a donor at least 6’ tall so that would help our son and daughter with a variety of endeavors.

You’re telling your wife that you have bad genetics and want another guy’s DNA inside her? Bold move

How would he tell his wife that… he’s 5’7”. She already knows

I know it has its own issues but adopt. Tons of already needy kids that need a loving home

I have always found the cost and process to legit adopt a child in need of love disheartening. Very sad that a society has made it easier to dispose of a child than to give one a chance to enter a wanted relationship.

Why would it not be my child? Just because of genetics?

What do you say to parents who adopt them. Are those children not theirs as well? By your standard no one should adopt.

So I'd compare it to adoption, but then that child is not biologically either of yours, so I think that issue doesn't exist at all.

It's just me but I could never accept a sperm donor, even though it's not a cheating wife, it still has that feel to it. That's some other man's kid with your wife. Nahhhhh

Maybe consider adoption.

The only hesitation is on my end because of my genetics. I suffer from high blood pressure and severe allergies/asthma, both of which are strongly hereditary and run in my family. And while it hasn't impacted me yet, major vision problems also run in my family. Both my dad and my older sister are legally blind without glasses or contacts.

These are all issues that are quite manageable with medical treatment. They’re all very common issues, too.
