In the market for a new stove. Gas or electric?

I want an electric stove. I can’t stand having to removed all the pieces and cleaning a gas stove. Doesn’t make much of a difference cooking wise IMO. SO wants a gas stove. Which is better in your opinion?

Gas is way better for resale. Also, gas is nice to have during power outages.

I prefer gas. Tell him/her you’ll get gas as long as you don’t have to clean it.

Gas stove top, electric oven is the best.
Cooking on an electric stove sucks if you're a decent cook. Temp control is terrible.

Wrong.
Newer models have a safety device that shuts off has flow when the power goes out to prevent gas leakages

I prefer gas because I can adjust the temp instantly. Electric burners are slower to adjust. I second the poster that suggested that you agree to get gas if they take care of the cleaning.

I dont understand why you posted this as your mind is made up and why you posted on OT instead of Food & Drink or Home boards?

Yes it does.
Gas stoves are far, far better for cooking.

You don't cook much, eh?

If it doesn’t make much of a difference then please find one decent restaurant that is cooking on an electric stovetop.

I have electric (no gas available at the house) and cook a lot....it sucks. One of the things I hate most about this house. It's a nice glass top, double convection oven deal that wasn't cheap but I can't stand cooking on it.

Gas is the best option and it's not even close.

I can't wait to switch all the appliances to gas.
