This is a poor me thread. I’m not in way tired of living, Im just sick of this year, it’s one bad thing after another.

Covid
My Wife filed for divorce in June. My two kids have really struggled with this as have I.
Lost my job in July. Was making 6 digits.
Grandmother died in July.
My first cousins ex husband died from a drug OD in Texas, don’t really care about him that much but my 12 yr old and his 12 yr old were really close. It’s been hard on her.
Last night I get a call that one of my best friends was found dead in his home Sunday am.

I’ve tried hard to keep my head up and keep pushing but it’s difficult at times.
Thank god I have my kids and my health.

Any suggested reading besides the Bible that can help me?
Only thing I know to do is get up every morning and put one foot in front of the other and pray for strength.

Thanks.

You can do it because thats what we do as men. You push down all those shitty emotions and work through it.

Faith will get you through anything. Keep it and fall on it a lot.

Try to keep a community base. Don’t try to carry all of this alone, it’s too heavy. Even if you feel like crawling in a hole, make sure you’re connecting with a positive community of people that can help share in your burden.

I don't have any advice, but hang in there man.

It's unrealistic to think that things could get worse from here, so at least you know that better things are ahead.

Could always be worse.

Imagine being a Siamese twin. Your brother is gay. You are not....

You’ve seen some of the worst humanity has to offer this year, and yes we will see more of it coming up on this election.

But as cliche as it is, the night is darkest just before the dawn and we will emerge from this a better people.

I don’t why this got downvoted.

OP, you’ll get through this. You have to keep going. Get a job. Any job. It will help give you a schedule and some semblance of providing for your kids.

You got this. Also as someone said earlier, reach out to those close to you and just vent sometime.

I hear you RT11 - this year has been utter shite. my dad has had 6 surgeries this year, and has complications from each one that is making it really difficult for him, coupled with his Dementia accelerating after each surgery - it has been difficult watching his decline progressing at an accelerated rate.

you just have to power through it - not for yourself, but for others relying and counting on you. be strong for your kids, and you will find that strength will carry you as well.

just know you aren't alone man - you may get an occasional person on here that will post something negative, but i believe in the OT to help lift you up - we are all here for you brother....unless you need money, then some of us will be here :D

It's the black dot on the white paper phenomenon.

Well in your case the many black dots.

Your life is the white paper. Your problems are the black dots.

We tend to focus on the little black dots and not the entirety of the white paper.

Step back and observe the whole paper ie your life.

Try to make the most of the good in life. Take your kids out more even if it is just something as simple as going for a walk with them. Let them tell you about their day and what they want for their future. It will brighten your day not to just talk to them but to just listen. There will be a day where they will not want to talk as much so make every second with them count.

Just keep marching forward, man. Life won't always treat you right. When it frowns on you, smile back.

Every day is a gift. Even the crappy ones. Things will get better for you.

Stay strong brother, God will guide you. I know its cliche but things will get better. Talk to someone you trust or a professional, don't be ashamed to ask for help.

You can always look forward to being in Tiger Stadium in a couple of weeks...

Seriously though go get some meds. Depression is an evil bitch and can sneak up on you and drag you into a pit of hell before you know it. Think about your kids..
