I’m sorry, but it’s LOO-ee-vill, not LOO-uh-vull

I don’t care what the locals say. I live in Baton Rouge. If all of us collectively started to pronounce it jam-SOO-plunk, it wouldn’t make it correct.

LOO-uh-vull is more fun to say.

Just know I’ll judge you if it’s not one of the top two.

A person from Louisiana trashing local pronunciations and ratifying outsider pronunciations is some kind of take

Actually it is LOO UH VULL. If you pronounce it LOOEY it just shows you are not local to that city in KY.

Judge away. Louisville, Nashville, Huntsville, and so forth are never going to be pronounced with "vul" from me. It sounds so redneck.

Not to be confused with LEWIS-vill in Mississippi.

Turns out that city was not named after King Louis. Who knew…

Both are wrong. It's LOO UHS Ville, just as the Queen's English intended.

Do they even pronounce the "UH"? For some reason, I thought they just said LOO-VULL

Louisianans are great at pronunciations with all the French, Creole, and Native American words and places we see in our daily lives.
