I believe it. There is a guy I see sparingly downtown, but he had never propositioned me before. One night, a buddy said he saw him find a sucker then walked back to some well dressed guy in a suit. The next weekend I saw that panhandler get into that guy's luxury SUV and drive off with him at the end of the night.

Not sure if you are talking about downtown BR but there's a homeless-looking guy who isn't homeless. He lives downtown but just hangs out on the sidewalk all day and picks up cans. About 70 years old. My coworker made friends with him. He never asks for money but people give him cash anyway.

If nobody gives them money, they'll all go away.

I can't walk into or out of Walmart without having to listen to a five min story about how someone's aunt died and their on the way to a funeral but they need $20 to buy a part for their car to get there.
You're way closer to being a panhandler than to being a person who can afford to live a life free from panhandlers.

Was pushing my cart out of the store the other day and an older guy in a car (hard hat on the front seat so he either had a job or wanted to look like he had a job) pulls up to block my path. He starts to tell me his life story, I say no thanks and move to walk around his car. He pulls his car up, cutting me off. He starts to talk and I start to walk and he does it again. I go to walk behind his car and I hear him put his car in reverse. I yelled, "Don't even think about it." and he put it back in drive and moved on.

It's shite like this that make people want to carry sidearms.

I was leaving the Target on Siegen with my sister, stopped a few cars back from the red light and my sister starts saying, "Roll the window down." I look over and there's an old bearded dude with a sign that says "Veteran, God Bless" or something like that. She's trying to get a dollar out her wallet before the light changes and I said no. Told her I didn't want him to cross lanes but the truth is I never give to these frickers. My taxes pay for a ton of social programs for people that really need help.

saw a FB post the other day where this chick said her Dad is begging near Academy in Lafayette. Holds a sign that says veteran. Dude never even graduated high school, much less served in any military branch. In all his FB pics, he's holding a lighter. Guess that meth addiction got him.

I particularly enjoy seeing panhandlers when:

1. I'm on my way to work in the early morning after dropping kids off at the school I have to pay out the arse for; and

2. I'm on my way home after working my arse off.

Also particularly joyful recently to see these folks panhandling after I dropped off my check to the IRS/State depositing 30% of my income.......

I ask them for a dollar before they can even open their mouth. Usually ends it right away.

I stopped giving after a bum got pissy with me about 3 years ago at Fry Rd and I-10 in Katy. He had a sign that said, "hungry, want food." I didn't have any food and since it was the middle of the summer and 110 degrees outside, I rolled down my window and offered an unopened liter of water. He looked at me and said, "can't you read, I'm not thirsty!" So I was like frick you and drove off. Guess I need to learn to read. *shrugs*

I am. Are you talking about the old white guy with the staggered walk that you see reading the paper? I'm not talking about him. I've also heard people say he's nice to talk to.

The guy I'm talking about, I only see in the evenings. Taller black guy with sullen face and really crooked teeth. I usually see him sitting on the bench outside Mathernes.

There's a fat chick that hangs around Carrolton in New Orleans by the Costco who claims to be pregnant and homeless. The problem is that she has been the same size for the last year and a half. I saw something going around facebook regarding this hoax, but continue to see her out there. I'm sure some idiots give her money.
