Been with State Farm since I got married in 1991. They do nothing but jack up my premiums and constantly give me the runaround. I have a bundled auto-homeowners and also an umbrella. I pay them shitloads annually. I'm convinced I could get it cheaper.

What are my options? I represent insurance companies, but I'm not too savvy about buying insurance. Any suggestions? I hear Farmers is good.

Btw, I live in Jefferson Parish and don't want to endanger my wind coverage.

Geico online quote.

Saved me almost $600 in six months after Allstate jacked everything sky high.

Call your agent and see if he/she can help. I've been with Allstate over 15 years. Called my agent one day to complain about premium prices (and I've never filed a claim). He was able to knock off about $400 a year.

They all do it so it pays to switch every couple of years. They have become cable/satellite/internet like in their approach. That being said they substitute inferior coverage to draw you over to lower premiums. You should print and compare every word between your current policy and what is being offered at that "lower" premium.

Consider calling an independent agent and having him shop around rates for you at the same coverage level. For what it's worth, I previously had State Farm and my independent agent got over $1000 knocked off my annual auto premium alone for the same coverages.

Just start calling around.

Call insurance brokers, and the big companies directly. I called Insirnace Network of LA, Lanoix, GEICO, Liberty Mutual, Allstate, etc.

I switched from a State Farm to Geico, and saved over $2000/year. Same or better coverage, and lower deductibles. Incredible. Told a buddy, and he saved around $1500/year.

I have been with State Farm for almost 50 years. My car rate has doubled in the last 18 months.

After checking around, I found State Farm is still cheaper than anyone else.

Your Car Insurance Rates Are Going Up Because Everyone Keeps Texting and Driving

auto insurance rates increase
Scroll down for other articles on rates going up.

All companies are raising their rates!

Check with State Farm and see if you have guaranteed renewability. That means they can not drop you if you have an accident. They do not offer it anymore. Probably no one else offers it either.

State farm has changed their sales model. I left SF after 20 + years and my agent explained what was going on with the increased rates. HE actually told me my best bet was to leave and come see him in another year when he could get incentives since I would be a new customer!

I left, not going back.

Call 3- 5 companies- Call an independent agent.

This.

Your local Allstate "agent" represents Allstate, not you.

Same for State Farm, Farm Bureau, Nationwide, etc...

Have an agent shop for you then call Progressive and GEICO. Those were my best quotes by far. GEICO was the best though.

I got pissed off a couple of years ago and looked around. Of all of the quotes that I got, I didn't find anything that was significantly cheaper than my current state farm policy. since they have always paid my claims without much question, I decided to stay with them.

fwiw, all insurance rates are regulated by the government and are based on what the company has paid out in claims. if you find a company that is considerable cheaper than the others for the same coverage, think about why they are so cheap before you switch.

State Farm

They suck arse! They recently went on on home insurance premium. I remember talking to this older gentlemen who was a contractor, when I worked in building permits & inspection, for a local government in college. And he told he he and his wife had lived in the same house since.. I think he said late 60s or something and at that time had to recently use their insurance because a back toilet overflowed and damaged the bedroom and part of the hallway.

He received something like $3000 from his insurance. A few months later his rates went up. He said he wish he knew he would never have to use it until the time he did, because if he would have put in a savings the amount he gave to the insurance company every year since buying the house, he could pretty much afford a new house.

I see the same high raise in my insurance. Cock sucking SF. I am really thinking of self insure my house. Heck, dropping 2K in the bank or market a year, even with a 5% return sounds sweet.

And yes, my house has been paid for the last 10+ years.
