I don't blame you. The only people I've ever known to "love" it were the ones that grew up there and have on nostalgia goggles. New Orleans is a shite hole that isn't even fun to visit anymore.

That's a you problem. The hate NOLA gets on this board is comical considering the shitholes most of y'all live in.

Greenway is a pedestrian/bike path that runs along Lafitte from mid city to the quarter. Brilliant idea - until 12 year olds from the bad side of Broad figured they could grab some wallets with daddy's glock by camping out on it.

Youre entirely right. I left years ago. Live in Dallas now. Nola is a place to visit, not live.

it's plenty fun to visit. Work might take us there in a few years and I don't know if I wanna move there.

Born and raised here, own a home here, will be buried in St. Louis #2, and love it, but I'm not blind. I recognize all the shitty problems our banana republic of a city has (see my avatar line--given to me by a fellow poster in one of the COUNTLESS similar threads--in other words, those of us living here live in a "cesspool of rationalization" ).

I'm personally willing to deal with it. New York, Pittsburgh, L.A. all have their own issues.

If you think the flooding is more than a political show then you are easily fooled.
what does this even mean? I was there for the floods a month ago. It wasn't a political show when mid city was underwater.

I feel bad for the long time residents of NOLA. But you? You should have known better.

Respectable. The difference to me is that all these other places have the resources to chip away at their problems. Seems NOLA's are only being exacerbated by administrative ineptitude and being flat out broke. I can't keep pouring money into it.

Unfortunately, I can't disagree with any of that. But I'll keep paying my taxes for broken arse streets and pumps, underfunded and undermanned police and fire service, and crappy politicians.

As long as I can still go to Jazz Fest.
