Ghetto shithole. I grew up there and wouldn't recommend it unless you like the bleakness of lower class tract home sprawl, loud subwoofers, gang fights, and drugs.

Are you Hispanic? If so, sounds like a good idea. If not, are you aware that San Antonio is majority Hispanic? It feels like living in a foreign country to some extent if you are not one of them. When I lived there it felt like I was a stranger in a strange land. You may like that aspect though. To each his own, but you were warned...

I am in SA all the time and I've never felt that at all. I get there are a lot of hispanics and it's a liberal town but I've never felt unwelcome or out of place.

hinking about moving west, and this is on the list. How is the area

Tyler is fantastic. Lots of places inside and outside of the city to live. It almost reminds me of a smaller Birmingham if you can sort of imagine that.

Lots of great food/shopping options, lakes, rivers, hunting, fishing, cycling. Great place to raise a family.

Bandera seems like a pretty cool place. I only spent a few days there 5 or so years ago, though. I like the hill country in general from what I've seen, and Bandera is fairly close to San Antonio.

I also like Cuero, when i was doing work around there. I prefer smaller towns, though.

If I don't have to worry about money or a job? Wimberley Fredericksburg Marble Falls/Horseshoe Bay Outside of town in Boerne Brenham

Hill Country should be a choice before it gets more expensive.
I live in Bulverde/Spring Branch that is 30 miles north of San Antonio. I can get to Southwest Austin in 55 minutes.
I'm 20 minutes to Boerne and 20 minutes to New Braunfels.

My son's football league plays every where listed above except for Brenham because that is not even in the vicinity.

Hill Country doesn't have cultcha though.

Grapevine

My hood. Great area to live in. Older non-Texas style homes in a tree covered forest. Great school district, great parks and one of the best lakes in DFW. Some of the best food and shopping in Grapevine, Southlake and Colleyville. Easy access to Fort Worth, Dallas and DFW airport.

I like Georgetown and Burnet.

San Marcos used to be a nice little town but it's grown so much. Pretty soon Austin and San Antonio will be one big metroplex like DFW.

The West side of S/A is really nice, towards Boerne. There is a lot of cultcha there, predominately hispanical.

I remember when there was a clear line of delineation from Austin to Buda/Kyle to SM to NB to Schertz to SA.

The only time you're not driving through city now is tiny blips between SM to NB and NB to Schertz. I'm betting in 10-20 years you will not see a lick of country side from Georgetown to Lytle

Hill Country is the best choice. I'll probably be moving to New Braunfels pretty soon. Then hopefully I can move to Fredericksburg, bandera, mason, or Brady eventually.

San Antonio is like living in a foreign country.

Mexican nationals come to town and rub their asses and balls on the statues.
