Whoever you pick, don't pick Andrew Jackson. He shot some dude for insulting his wife I think, at Natchez maybe? May have shot others. Plus he ran an entire race from the
South to OK. Wasn't called Old Hickory for nothing.
Both my grandmothers had to raise their kids during the Depression and both hated Herbert Hoover and would vote for a blind, deaf Democrat, or maybe a Commie over any Republican.
So, in honor of them, I'd like to go toe to toe with Herbert.

It was legitimately Wilson's fault, everyone was brainwashed into believing it was by Hoover, when in reality the Federal Reserve had bad policies on money controls causing debt deflation, malinvestment, along a few bad labor restrictions and boom.
Americans don't realize the POTUS has no control over the monetary situation...
