Sorry for having money. I guess I should feel bad for attending a private school.

Anyone who has been in quiz bowl can tell you to expect Bible questions, regardless of whether you are in a public or private school match. The fact that BRMHS wasn't prepared for it is the fault of the students on the team and their coach.

Knowing the Bible is as important for trivia competitions as states and capitals, U.S. Presidents, English poets and classical composers. All of these categories are trivia staples in quiz bowl.

I was on the BRHS quiz bowl team in the 80's and at the time there was a class on the Bible as literature. It was a fairly good one too. Unfortunately we didn't have any Bible questions for quiz bowl, or I would have nailed them.

I don't think you were directing that at me. I certainly don't care where people decide to spend their money. My kids have received a great education in the public school system and the money we saved has helped our kids attend the colleges of their choice, including a Jesuit university.

I help facilitate a quiz bowl team at a public high school. Women in the bible is not a random category, hell there's a category called women in Russian literature. It's in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments common question category study guide. Hell I recently gave it to my students to study and other biblical questions come up in our practices often.
And boom goes the dynamite. Scruffy hopes OP feels like a retard now.

Nope, but I am surprised to learn that questions from the Bible are apparently considered fair game.

Well, if the BRMHS students would've studied more and read the study guides, they apparently would've known that has been the case for years.

Sorry they are terrible students.

If they're that blessed you'd think they'd crack a dam bible once and a while and praise God.

Doesn't refute the fact that these competitors did not do their due diligence prior to the meet.

That = bad students

You're not serious, are you

Of course I'm serious

I think everyone at least has some very serious doubts about it no matter how religious they appear

And most believers aren't really fundamentalists. In fact the whole fundamentalist movement is relatively new.

Missed this one...

Actually, I did. Raised Catholic...attended Catholic school...converted to Lutheran...then left the church and have not looked back.

I believe we should all have a good background in religious studies...all religions...certainly an important part of our history.

That's nice, but Scruffy isn't letting you change the subject.

Admit your OP was 100% wrong.

Do it.

Also change your thread title to "I is wrong and are dum".

Doesn't everyone know the direct correlation of believing in religion and intelligence.

BRMHS students are smart, therefore don't need to praise a god.

A high ratio of poor people are dumb, hence they pack the churches.

Pretty much no one actually believes the bible.

If you think literature only includes non fiction, I can promise you weren't on any award winning quiz bowl teams.
