Nearly every adult male in my family is one of them. They have opinions similar to mine.

My allegiance and loyalty goes to my family and friends. I'm staunchly against fighting wars in the Middle East so that coastal elites can feel safe, so you can imagine that my loyalty isn't going to be with those same assholes it parts of this country tried to separate.

Good point, I could just stay down south and take out stupid rednecks from within.

Just an FYI, the South would have a damn good shot at winning the next time around. The South now has an equal advantage in manufacturing/production, an advantage in population, and even an advantage in the number of soldiers in the federal service that hail from the region. Not to mention the liberal gun policies of large areas of the north. Adds up to me wanting the rednecks by my side because they have the guns and the means.

Why? They pretty much already consider themselves to be a country all unto themselves.

It would depend on why they did and what the new rules were going to be like.

If the North did something outrageous like install a dictatorship, steal everyone's property, or block an SEC team from getting in the playoff, then I'd be all for seceding.

It all comes down to which side New Mexico joins. Once they pick a side, the war is immediately over

It depends on the situation, but it's highly unlikely that I'd support the USA in any kind of military action against its own people.

A huge percentage of people in the deep south are worthless as frick. I don't think a new CSA could deal with all of them.

Well first let me say that I would not consider it treason to vote for secession if the POTUS and Congress passed a bill to allow a vote to take place (i.e. Scotland and the UK).
Second there are many aspects to consider like how would the military break up be handled? I don't think the USA would get to keep everything and the CSA (for lack of a better name) would get nothing. The citizens in the new CSA would have paid taxes and served in the military too so they would have a claim to it. The you get into the huge as national debt would that be split? The list goes on.
3. I think that a modern CSA plus most of the red states that would break away and join would be much better of economically the remaining USA consisting of the left coast and northeast and sporadic blue states. That would probably also breakup into seperate countries.
4th. I would vote no because we are stronger together than apart.

USA. The South would be a terrible nation on it's own. May could be sufficient if Florida and Texas were in on it but I doubt it.

No way man. Most of the worthless people live in NYC. You know that.

And besides, two posters already mentioned "parasites" getting "exterminated" by the small libertarian gov't of the new CSA. Jeez. This is already sounding a lot like Nazi Germany.

Even then, the divorce settlement would probably be too messy to ever happen. How do you divide both the assets (the very valuable US War Machine) and the liabilities (our ridiculous debt)? I could see a state or 2 that thinks the feds are more harm than help to them try and secede, but I just don't see it sticking. In the end the combination of military strength and crushing debt would be too much motivation to keep things as they are. You don't just leave this union.

The South would actually fare better than the North in a split. It would need to include all of the oil-producing states, including Oklahoma. There would be more than enough oil to finance the building of a new government. Would need Florida for the tourist economy. Military could be a problem, but that could be assembled within 5 years.

No welfare in the south. You work or you leave. Mandatory conscription for all 18 year olds, like in Israel. Everybody serves their country. It makes the country stronger, and makes them better people when they finally get out.
