In southern Louisiana. How would one go about doing so?

I've never been on a shrimping boat, but I have been on a real big boat.

Thats going to be tough for me to do.

Go down to the marinas and talk to the captains. Eventually one is going to pick you up. Be ready for long hours though. Pay is also hit or miss as prices have been all over the place.

Find a disabled veteran in a wheelchair to be your first mate and name the boat after a girl from your childhood who went on to be a stripper.

I have no commercial fishing experience. Does this matter?

Nope. Just be able to learn quickly. It's not hard work just, repetitive. 12-16 hours non-stop. It's fun, but tiring. You will see a lot of things you're amazed by on the water. I love it.

Do you do more shrimping or fishing?

Go to Lafitte solicit Cocaine tell your dealer you're interested in shrimping.

Nice man. That sounds like a good deal. How long are you usually out on the water in between docking?
Posted on 3/5/16 at 3:19 pm to Mootsman
Truly depends. We try to come home every 3 days. We are always home on Sunday but that's my family. I've stayed out as long as 6 days, as short as 36 hours. Just depends on when and where you find shrimp, and how many there is.
Eta: some guys go out and come in daily. Just depends on boat size and the captain.

1. Get you some white boots.
2. Develope a meth/crack habit
3. Sit back and watch the money roll in.

Sounds interesting to me. How much pay are we talking? Are their any other perks?

Most deckhands I know get 10-25% off the top of what the boat makes per trip.Depends on how many deckhands are on the boat. The boat could make $1,000 in 3 days or it could make $25,000 it all depends.
Other perks: all the shrimp, crabs, and fish you want and you're not stuck working a 9-5.
