If enough laws are made, there will be no more crime.

I think most in favor of gun control, aren't for the banning of guns, just more registration.
Also, Austrailia banned guns a while back and saw a huge dip in gun crimes.
I know this will be downvoted, but I own guns, just think it's silly that we don't have to register them.

More laws lead to more crime, by definition. When it comes to "banning" things, we know without a doubt that more laws create an opportunity for criminal enterprise so you'll just have an expanded underground economy, with more criminals.

I don't read political memes on facebook and have no clue what a political meme is. I've been saying this for years.

What politician(s) said this (or something similar)?

Then you either do not pay attention to terms, or are obtuse.

quote:

A meme is "an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture". An Internet meme may take the form of an image, hyperlink, video, picture, website, or hashtag. It may be just a word or phrase, including an intentional misspelling. These small movements tend to spread from person to person via social networks, blogs, direct email, or news sources. They may relate to various existing Internet cultures or subcultures, often created or spread on various websites, or by Usenet boards and other such early-internet communications facilities. Fads and sensations tend to grow rapidly on the Internet, because the instant communication facilitates word-of-mouth transmission.

Why have laws against speeding? People still speed.

We have a constitutional right to speed in this country? Must've missed that day of Civics class.

Then I guess we keep the status quo and keep seeing these mass shootings. If after Sandy Hook the guns laws weren't changed, I doubt anything will ever be a catalyst for a massive call for change.

I also find it ironic that we eviscerated the 4th Amendment in response to 9/11 but far more people have died from gun violence since then yet the 2nd Amendment is sacred.

Bullshite. Go look up what a trend line means then look up what it was before and after that 1996 law in Australia. Then you can explain why the rate of decline immediately before and years after saw no change.

You know how many laws were violated during that event? Several.

Still didn't stop the guy.

This argument only works if guns laws ban guns. They won't.

What would registration do to curb gun crimes/violence?

Its not terribly difficult to track the origin of a gun if said gun is found with an in tact serial #.

Registering guns will not prevent gun theft or straw purchased both of which are illegal.

Now I think penalties for gun crimes (theft, straw purchase, falsifying info on form 4473, etc.) should be enforced and/or made stricter.

There are already several gun laws that are designed to keep guns out of the hands of criminals yet we see people get shot all the time. I guess the solution to ineffective laws is more ineffective laws.
