SO you were going the normal speed before, but by the time you got the sign, you were "well below" 20mph? I think your're fibbing.

The speed limit was 35. I was going 30 and started hitting my brakes about 50 yards before I got to the sign.

What is the point of school zones? I've never seen a child play in the middle of the road before or after school, so why does everyone have to slow down?

there is usually some verbiage about being so many feet from said speed zone signs.
Then why not move them back to where that starts instead. And how would one accurately gauge that footage? Seems like an easy thing to exploit if a cop wants to give out a bunch of tickets.

jvilletiger25 must be one of the ones who think rules don't apply to him.

How fast did they write the ticket for?

Arguing with a cop is a lot like arguing with a woman. You may win on principle, but in reality, you really lose. Enjoy paying that fine.

For the increased amount of vehicles entering and exiting the road and stopping, and possible crosswalks.

30 in a 20. Like I said, dumbass already had his lights on before I even got to the speed limit sign.

Children get hit quite frequently. There was a young boy who was killed near my hometown because he got out into the road.

Besides, is it that big of a deal to slow down twice a day for a short distance, as a precaution?

I was pulled over once on my way down to the beach (fricking hellhole of a speed trap that is Robertsdale, AL), and I had almost the same argument with a cop.

He said the speed limit is enforceable as soon as you can see the sign.

I asked him how he could tell at what distance one could read the sign and does he make adjustments for nearsighted/old folks

Of course he didnt have an answer, but of course he gave me the ticket anyway.

Ah, didn't realize they changed it. I remember quotas being allowed from the prelicensing classes.

School zone lights are on every morning even during the summer and holidays. I feel weird doing it, but I don't even slow down
I'm waiting for the day I get a ticket for doing 60 in a 25

Also, that sucks and this is off topic, but I hate when you're driving on a road and there isn't a single speed limit sign. *cough* Elysian Fields going towards the lake.
I've driven down that road atleast 50 times and still don't know the speed limit.
