Lots of kids and pets getting too hot in cars these days.

Car makers should install a temperature sensor that sends your phone a text or alert if the temp gets too high for your pet or children to be comfortable.

It could give you the option to remotely crack the windows. Get Junior or Buster some fresh air while you finish shopping.

This would help keep kids and pets safe, while providing peace of mind to busy adults.

Or just don't be a dumbass and leave those you love in the scorching heat. No need to increase the cost of cars for the rest of us.

I often think of ideas these days but then I'm sure some super nerd is way ahead of me. I have no doubt something like this will be fairly standard in a couple years.

The nerds these days are running shite.

Or create a device that dumbasses can buy and place in their car that does the same thing

Every day?

People would turn that sensor off immediately. The ones who would actually want it would have the sensor fail after 38,000 miles and it would cost $350.00 to replace.

The problem with this idea is that distracted individuals are more than likely to ignore the alarm b/c after all the kid/pet is almost never in the car when it sounds so why this time?

You need an alarm that will sound only when the car is occupied. And most people won't buy it as an option anyway because, let's face it, this isn't something that happens to most people.

I'll actually never understand this. Why do people (a) leave their kids in a car unattended and (b) why do they leave their pets in the same?

I don't have kids so I can't speak to that one so I'll speak to the pets one. If I have to bring one of my dogs to the vet and have to also go to the grocery store or something...I'll spend the extra time to go home, drop the dog off and then go BACK to the store. It just doesn't make sense.

I only leave my dog in the car for a second to run into a store and get something real quick. I leave my car running with the A/C on. No different than leaving her at home in the A/C.

But if I'm going to be more than 5-10 mins inside, then I'll probably say screw it and just go home instead.

The smarter route might be to use this in conjunction with something that could detect life/movement in the vehicle that would cause the car to remote start and put the AC on

Cracking the window won't do much in a truck with black leather seats when it's 95 degrees outside

a sensor under the back seat. sort of like the one on the passenger seat that tells the passenger to buckle up that alerts you that someone.thing is in the back seat when you turn off the engine and/or open the door. only don't give the option to turn it off.

Or you could just teach your kid and dog how to crack the damn window themselves. My god you "busy adults" can be so lazy sometimes.

My 3 year old practically drives my car anyway when I'm responding to my text messages.

Or when a dumb arse leaves his kids or pet in the car with engine off, it starts up on its own and runs him over!

solar powered fan that kicks on and exhausts the heat inside the vehicle to the outside when it reaches "x" temp inside. Fans require very little power to operate so this seems feasible to me.
