I witnessed a father humiliating his son in public yesterday

I cannot get this exchange between father and son out of my head today. I was at the Abita Springs trailhead on the Tammany Trace hanging out with our kids at the splash pad yesterday afternoon. A guy and his son grab their bikes (his son is on training wheels and looks like he's 4 or 5). They had been riding for a while and had stopped at the trailhead to use the bathroom. Right after the boy gets on, the bike fell over (sidewalk is at a very slight angle which would easily throw the balance off of someone learning to ride a bike). His dad just yells at him "did you suddenly forget how to ride a bike?" The boy gets back on on his own, and and when he doesn't go as fast (slightly up hill right here), his dad yells at him again and accuses him of being lazy and rides off ahead of him. I felt so bad for the little boy.
And to this particular dad... It's over 90 degrees outside in the middle of the day. I'm obviously not one of these "stay inside because it's too hot" types when it's really not, besides riding a bike takes a lot of energy out of small bodies that do not already have the coordination and strength/stamina that adults do. Have a little more understanding and instead ask your son what you can do to help instead of humiliating him in public.

If he was a real dad he'd have taken those pussy training wheels off by now. Weakness has to be found and snuffed out before they get too old.

That kid is going to be your kid's boss one day. And he's going to be be an arse to yours because he hates his father.

married man, doesn't get laid, doing a daddy duty sweating his arse off in the heat, son embarrasses daddy in public and dad reacts. Mind your own business man.

Kid is getting prepared for real life in corporate America. Tough love is a vast gray area to us all.

At least the Dad stayed around.

Me and a friend brought my 4 year old and a 6 year old to a golf course (designed for kids to learn on). The 6 year old kid was the only one in our group playing but the father in the group ahead kept staring back at us with obvious pissed off body language. 7th hole and the guy actually starts yelling at us, though we were too far away to understand him. Apparently as he told the kids in the clubhouse he felt threatened by the 6 year olds hitting while he was on the hole. Nevermind that 150 yards is approx three times the ability of the kid to hit a ball on his best shot.
Neither me nor my friend had ever seen that kind of uncalled for behavior on a golf course in 30+ years each.
I actually considered calling the police because this crazy dude was waiting around to confront us. In front of a bunch of 6-10 year olds.
People are crazy. Sometimes they are assholes. I feel bad for the souls that are cursed to be their children.

Meh...none of my business but I'd have thought the dad a douche too. I've seen worse though.
