I was Involved in a Hit and Run. Then He Ran Some More.

Yesterday leaving work, some a-hole in an old beatup truck rear ends me when I'm at a dead stop at a red light and proceeds to back up and drive away.
I follow this truck a block away where he parks in a parking lot and he and his buddy get out. They both are white older men (straight up white trash) and the driver had a black shirt wrapped around his hand so I didn't know if he had a gun or something and I was already in shock from just being slammed into while I was stopped at a red light. Well, the driver walks past my driver door and says "I'm sorry" and then runs away.
His passenger stayed around (I'm pretty sure because if he ran he wouldn't have gotten too far in the shape he was in) and we all three waited on the police officer.
The truck had a temporary tag which expired on June 28th and my hopes of him having insurance are slim to none.
I have more than enough information about the driver that ran away - which I have given to my insurance company. So I'm just going to get my car fixed and fork over my collision deductible for a non-fault accident.
So, what else is there for me to do? Wait on my insurance to try and track him down and in the mean time write it off as another loss from a hit and run. I just don't know what else I should do with this A-holes information.
Me and the passenger are okay. She's probably more sore than I am today because she has prior injuries. My poor little car is beat up on the back end but that can be fixed.
CLIFFS:
A-hole Rear Ends Me at a Redlight
A-hole drives away and I follow him
A-hole parks his truck
A-hole runs away
A-hole more than likely doesn't have insurance
I have A-holes information
What's my next step?

Cry on the internet about it.

If you were as good at sleuthing IRL as you are on here, you'd already have this guy in lock up by now

In the event the POS driver doesn't have insurance (which is likely given your description of the events), do you have uninsured motorist coverage?

so the driver ran away yet all 3 of you waited on the cops? not following.

Insist the prosecutor press charges. Driving with expired tags is a crime. Driving without insurance is a crime (if that in fact turns out to be the case, which is likely).
It's not like they are going to put him in jail for all of that, but if you don't make the cost and trouble of him not having tags and insurance more than having them, he wins.
You can also sue him, but he doesn't have anything so it will end up a waste of money.

Geico won't let me carry uninsured motorist and collision for some reason. They want me to pick one or the other. So, no. I'm SOL in that department.

I have the guy's name and some other information.

There was a passenger in her car.

I assume you have collision, that'll take care if your damages. Unfortunately you'll have to pay your deductible. If the ins co recovers anything, you'll get your deductible back. Even if he doesn't have ins, there are ways to collect from the at fault driver. They'll even set up payment plans.
If you have med pay, that'll take care of any bills you incur up to whatever your limit is, usually $1000 or $5000.
You aren't at fault, so this should not change your rates.

They probably won't let you carry collision and UMPD. You should be able to carry UMBI.

The police officer got the passenger's info and let him leave.

Only answer is to kneecap the driver.

BTW - this had so much more potential.
