After the roads were treated last week in anticipation of the non-winter storm that came through, I put my car through one of those brushless car washes to get that brine/salt stuff off.

After it was done, I noticed a couple areas of noticeable scratches that weren't there before. To add insult to injury, the vehicle still has dirty areas.

Lesson learned. Never again.

The touchless wash didn't scratch your car. It just cleaned it to the point where you were able to see it

It is a new car. The first scratch on a new car always hurts.

The subsequent scratches don't hurt as bad.

So the car wash wasn't even powerful enough to clean off the dirt, yet you're assuming some noticeable scratches are from that same wash?

I went through a huge automated car wash that pretty much snapped my antenna. There were no signs up about pulling down the atenna, and the antenna was already bent (when I bought it years ago). I don't believe I could force it down if I tried. That might be common sense but I have gone through automated car washes before without any problem.

I couldn't tell you the last time I saw an antenna on a car.

I remember one with the big rotating brushes ripping the antenna off of my moms car when I was younger. Haven't had an antenna like that in years though, so not an issue. I usually take our vehicles through a local one that actually touches your car. But it's manned. There are people who get the bugs and stuff off before you go through and wipe your car down afterwards. I figure they are making sure the thing stays clean. I've seen Tesla's, Mercedes, Range Rovers, etc. go through there almost every time I go. If it's good enough for a car $40k+ more than mine, it's good enough for me.

Now I waxed my month old car this weekend and got to see every little nick it has already . Driving the interstate everyday sucks.

Most of the time, it's at least he bendable black antenna. It's the standard metal antenna that you don't see as much, but I find it hard to believe you never see them unless you live in an incredibly affluent neighborhood and don't venture out beyond that. Anyone driving a car from the 1990s is going to have antenna like that. I see them every day.

Had my first brand new car, took it to the self service, didn't look at the foam brush though. There was a metal screw protruding from the base of the brush in the bristles. Ran that over the front fender and left a 6 inch or so scratch.

Dealer was able to clear coat it again though and it thankfully disappeared.

Check the setup religiously now
