I think schools confiscating a phone from a child is strange.

IDK how a school can keep a kid’s phone for a week. It’s how we (my wife really) keep track of his location, how fast he drives, when he’s on the road…

He went to work out after ACT class night and my wife was a wreck until he got home at 9:30…that’s just day 1.

I guess they’re supposed to turn in their phone to the office each morning…and my son has not and does not…so yea, give him Saturday school or beat him, I don’t care, but it’s odd to take something we pay for and utilize for ‘safety’ purposes…to punish him.

Strange if something bad happened…and we couldn’t respond.

How did humanity survive before we had a phone attached to us at all times?!

It must have been chaos.

I’m really glad I did not grow up in the cell phone era.

You even put quotes around safety, my guy. Your kid isn't exempt from the rules. You raising him to believe he is will not serve him well in the future.

I was drinking with friends, and possibly trying to drift my S10 Blazer on the back roads, instead of taking ACT classes and working out.

Eh, let them keep their colleco football and Nintendo Gameboy while class is in session.

They'll always pay closer attention to the lesson.

I’d imagine if you demanded the phone back, they’d give it to you.

But we all survived for eons without a phone.

People were far less neurotic and anxious before cell phones, wish those days could return

You signed and agreed to the policy at the beginning of the year. It is legal and is done this way in many if not the majority of schools.

You can demand the phone but your kid goes home instead. That’s how almost all similar policies are written.

Not saying he is. Shave his head, duct tape the phone to his back, suspend him from school for a week…it’s just odd to take a possession we pay for and use to track him.

So you're one of those parents that think the rules don't apply to your kid.
You're the problem...
