Stick it with the grandparents for the first year. That's what my parents did. Okay, not every night but during that first year my parents took the weekends off.

Not true. At 8 weeks old, a baby can make it 8 hours without being fed. Every week after that the baby can technically sleep for as many hours as it is weeks old.

The pattern you need to follow is Eat-Wake-Sleep. If you get the book, you will realize it's all about routine.

We've done all that, baby is on a military schedule. Just have to keep grinding these nights out I guess. Considering cry it out soon too but after he gets to crib

Turn your radio up and forget to turn the monitor on. Worked for us with first two.

If y'all have done all of those things, then maybe just a temporary sleep regression. Ours is 11 months and harder to sleep train than our daughter. Good luck!

oatmeal cereal but it plugged him up and didn't get him sleeping

When they are this young the only cereal you can feed them is RICE cereal. All mine started with a little rice cereal in a bottle right around 4 months. It's old school and is frowned upon by the hip au natural parenting crowd. Give it a shot.

Ours just made a year and recently decided to stop sleeping through the night and to start waking up at 1 and be a complete a-hole til about 4.

She slept through the night at 12 weeks and continued the trend until last week.

Hate to be the one to tell you but year one is only the beginning. It will not get easier for a long long time.

Tell your wife to breast feed and this will never be an issue.

She was given the gift of the ability to feed the baby, so utilize it.

Totally uneducated. And selfish. Show me a baby that does pee or poop for that long. And I will show you a dehydrated baby.

This is terrible advice. You can feed babies cereal earlier than most doctors recommend but only off a spoon. They get used to how much they need to suck to be full and putting cereal throws that way off. The kid will over eat and vomit

My pediatrician disagrees with you. What are your credentials?

Oh, you're one of these douchebag new parent shamers. Eat a dick.

You know, they make diapers for this exact scenario. They are extra absorbent so you don't have to wake the baby up just to change them. But even regular Pampers Swaddlers work just fine for our almost 5 month old. She's hitting a growth spurt, so she's started waking up around 4am instead of her usual 6am. That still at least 7 hours of solid sleep per night.

Yea man it doesn't get any easier after they turn a year old. Sounds like the 4 month sleep regression. Luckily we didn't go through the ones before the 18 month sleep regression. This is a blip on the radar compared to the 18 month sleep regression my son went through recently.

My wife (no pics) breastfed, but we used the supplemental formula for his night time bottle because it stayed in his system longer and he was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks for the most part.

Sounds like a regular baby.

Babies have weird sleep patterns. Your nights of peaceful rest are gone for a while.

Why is the baby waking you up? Are you a single dad or something?

From what I've heard, a new baby sleeping 7-9 hours in a row at night is pretty rare, so you had it good for a while there
