Any recommendations on what to buy? Just need something to hit at range and for a replacement if main goes down. I'm a high handicap golfer by the way.

I swing a Ping Rapture 10° and love it. Bought it on eBay for ~$300 a few years ago.

But I'm sure technology has advanced and there's better shite for cheaper.

Golf is one of those sports that equipment matters... The one game where it's the bow, not the Indian.

As a 25+ handicapper....the bow makes little difference, if the Indian is retarded.

Recently bought a Cobra AmpCell from Academy for $99. Adjustable driver with nice performance and very forgivable.

Have you played with top-notch equipment..? You could probably shave ~5+ strokes with different clubs.. OT Golfers, back me up here?

But when is all said and done, if you suck, you suck.

I played in HS and wasn't very good... when I was transitioning out of the Army I was playing ~3-4 times a week and watched hours of "video tips" on YouTube and basically learned how to play competitively through those videos and playing often... I think at my best, I was down to ~11 handicap on a 120 slope.

But I shaved from +13 to +11 with a new driver, 3-wood, and a hybrid 3...

I'm swinging Ping eye2 white dots from 1982. Don't tell me about old clubs.

But what I'm saying is that ice swung "newer, better" clubs on demo days and played a lot better.

Maybe it's all in my head. I dunno...

Man, go the second hand section. Golf clubs are like college textbooks. They depreciate by half in one year despite being no different than new.

Also look at whatever model did not sell well. One year someone always flops. There will be a top tier name brand club on clearance. For whatever reason people did not love it. At the skill level of the VAST majority on here, it will be more than enough club.

If it feels good in your hands, it's your club.
