I keep ignoring calls from my former employers lawyers

who want me to come in and talk with them about a lawsuit where my former employer is getting sued by a customer I was the salesman for. I left before the catastrophe happened. I didn't design it, estimate it, order the materials, managed the installation, or inspected it with the manufacturer, nothing other than sold it.
Several months ago one of their young lawyers called me asking for "help" with some questions. He wanted me to tell them which county most of my former employers employees lived in. Which was an immediate red flag for me. So I asked why would you call a former salesman that's been gone for almost two years to ask where most of the employees live? Why wouldn't you just ask management/ownership that instead of me? He said they were looking for a change of venue from one county to another and needed my help. I said no frickin way I'm going to tell you a factual statement because I don't know, ask the owner. He also wanted me to tell him what county I was in when the contract was signed. How the hell can I know where I was when the contract was signed when it wasn't signed in front of me and it was probably three years ago by now? I said I can't help you.
Fast forward to now and these fricks won't stop calling, texting, and emailing me. They say "we received notice to get your statement/deposition".
What should I expect? Subpoena? Should I hire a lawyer? Anybody been in this situation before?

You're about to have your legs broken.

I'm prepared if someone approaches me.

I’m not sure you have to cooperate with the lawyers for your former employer, but don’t ignore a subpoena if you receive one.

They can subpoena you, and since you were the salesman you should expect them to go that route.

That’s up to you. But just know, your former employer’s lawyer does not represent you or your interest.
Did you have a contract with your employer as a salesman? Did they have any provisions about providing information/aid in potential suits?

Get a lawyer and tell them to contact him with any further inquiries.

I make good money testifying for my former employers in lawsuits.

You are going to get a subpoena served on you.

Is there not a price point at which you're willing to help these crooks, er I mean lawyers?

as a matter of fact yes
I got subpoenaed for a depo in a lawsuit I had nothing to do with because I ignored plaintiff lawyers requests for info
so I sat for the depo (zoom) without video just to be a dick, and answered in one word answers which were mostly “no” or “do not recall”. Defense lawyer was on the call too and that jackass tried to go fishing and pin his deadbeat clients’ bullshite on me LOL
I basically ended the call there and told them both to frick off. It’s been months since and haven’t heard anything since so I guess they gave up.
Lawyers suck till you need one I guess

OP may not have an extra $5 grand sitting around to pay a lawyer. Prob better to call and find out rather than speculating and asking randos for advice.

Don't do shite or say shite until you are served with a subpoena or they pay you for your help.
