Thankfully I have insurance and pay only $30 for a 30 day supply but I have to admit I feel a little guilty taking such expensive meds.
The med is Rexulti for depression. I have major depressive disorder.
I think I may stop taking it.

Definitely check back in and let us know how that plays out

The manufacturers often give your insurance further discounts for agreeing to carry such expensive drugs in their formulary. If you are looking at the average wholesale price printed on the pharmacy’s labeling, it’s marked up a good bit over what your insurance actually paid. Don’t suddenly stop taking it.
ETA Ridiculously high drug prices do burden Americans most. We definitely need to address this problem.

A long line of your predecessors are looking down at you from heaven, shaking their heads in shame at this generation.

Change your diet, stop or limit drinking, lose some weight, start exercising, and limit screen time. Seriously it does wonders. I am aware some situations get to a point that medication may be needed ,but give what I mentioned a try it helped me alot and it definitely won't hurt you.

My wife takes a med that without insurance/savings card is around $1500 a month. The company has a savings card you fill out, and they then sell it for $/month.
How is that possible?

It’s all a money scam. That shite doesn’t cost that much to make.

Why would you feel guilty about that? Did you personally set the price of said medication?

Obviously... but research and clinical trials are pretty costly.

1. Why?
2. How costly?
If a prescription costs $1200/month, a mere 10k people taking it would net $144 million a year.

1. Why?
Because teams of MDs and PhDs aren't cheap.

2. How costly?
It varies. Median cost is 985 million, average is only 1.3 billion

Oh... you think the pharmacy should make 0 money too? Not a great business model for getting a refill filled next month.

Just know who runs this country. Medical costs are ridiculously high for anything. Overnight hospital stay for "observation"? $15,000.

This is horrible advice to someone with major depressive disorder.
