I just applied to be an officiant for a non religious church.

I will still have to file paperwork with the Clerk of Court, but I will be able to officiate marriages.

Anyone else ever done it?

Do you already have a gig lined up? Or is this a just in case a romantic comedy ever breaks out in your general vicinity and an on the spot preacher is needed to hitch some couple?

I am a bona fide minister of the Universal Life Church registered in the great state of Louisiana and I've officiated one wedding.

I have been asked previously to do it to able to officiate a friend's wedding. But his future exwife was absolutely nuts and I refused.

I have a wedding I will want to conduct in the next year or so.

I've done a few. It's a lot easier than it should be in my opinion. But I went the Universal Life Church route so I could call myself "Reverend", even though those fricking fascists in HR won't let me put on my nameplate on my door.

Uhh... a church is a building used for religious worship services. How can there be a non-religious church? I don't know what you applied to the the officiant of, but it isn't a church.

A church is an entity.

IE: The Roman Catholic Church

Or

The Church of Bacon.

I'm actually eying that DR of metaphysics certificate. The fun I could have with that is well worth the 30$

And yes, I will force everyone to call me "The Good Reverend Dr..."

Yeah, about 2 seconds after I hit submit, I thought of that. Oh well.

And Joey Tribbiani was a minister. If he can be one, anyone can.
