I did this. Worked for me and teaches responsibility.

Have you talked about what they want?
Yes....thet think they are getting my car, which is a 2012 Toyota 4Runner, and that might happen. One really wants that car, the other wants a Rav4 or Mazda CR5. They are fighting over that already. They are girl / boy with different tastes...similar friend group, but not exactly the same.

I probably wouldn't give them ANY of those. Maybe an older Rav4 or 4Runner, but those are still much nicer than any kid should START with, IMHO.

Make them get a job and pay for their own shite.

I AM a twin and I shared a car with my brother all through HS and college with basically no issues.
It helped that we were involved in the same stuff, had the same friends etc...

I see. I would tend to look at it like you do then. If they were the same gender sharing one might work but it gets complicated in your situation. It sounds like they are good kids who have earned it. Congratulations.. You could be dealing with far worse issues.

It depends- do they both work? If they have two different jobs to get to, two cars. If the car is just for funsies and hitting the town, one car.

I'm in the exact same situation. They turn 16 this summer. Both 4.0s and really good kids.

They live within rock throwing distance of their school and I can't fathom buying 2 cars at once with class rings, college visits and college on the horizon.

Was going to let the one with better grades drive but both are straight A students so they will have to figure it out.
Dick move unless one kid just doesn't try ha. In my experiences, one of the twins is usually more dumb than the other.

You are obviously not an OT baller; otherwise, each would be getting his/her own brand spanking new BNW convertible. These are your kids, dammnit. Pony up.

Two cars if possible. Maybe 1 car for maybe a year so you can get the second.

I will never buy one of my kids a car. I'll do the same my parents did for me and my siblings. They get rides to work and when they are ready to buy a car I will match whatever amount they saved.
I am offering help but they have to earn at least half the car themselves. Give a kid a car and they wont appreciate it as much and treat it like shite. My 17 year old saved $2,500 working for the forest service which I matched. He got a 04 BMW 330. Its a nice car and he treats it like its made of gold cause he earned it.

It seems they have done their part... and props for raising your kids well
2 well used civics seems like a good choice to me... just remember those will turn into bumper cars in no time at all
Perhaps a job, like mentioned before, to pay for gas and insurance... as long as it doesn't interfere with their school or previous responsibilities
Just my $.02

I would suggest Honda Fits, if for no other reason than versatility.
