Shutter, is there an educator's discount for this on-line program?

Generally speaking, no. But most school districts will bump up your pay for a master's (in essence paying for your degree). And if you teach 5 consecutive years in a Title I district, you're supposed to be eligible to have $5,000 forgiven (up to $17,000 for SPED).

I'm planning to move into administration.

It's a great area. What would you do for work? If that or money isn't an issue I would certainly do it. Good luck.

I would recommend East Tennessee. Temps are very similar to what you just said and the people are nicer then anywhere I have ever traveled. The mountains are gorgeous there too.

Move up here to Iowa, it's pretty boring.

I lived for 4 years in Louisville, KY. It is very nice there. It's a very friendly and liveable city. You get all 4 seasons and a moderate amount of snow. I just moved back to Louisiana a few months ago, and I haven't sold my Louisville house yet, so you could but mine. It's on the east end, the new, richer part of the city.

Everything is in the Northeast, everything. It's like an epiphany when you go there for the first time and realize what you've been missing out on.

Go there.

I lived in the Pittsburgh suburbs for a few years and graduated from HS there. It was a much better place than I would have guessed. We used to enjoy heading east to the mountains in the summer for white water rafting and for snow skiing in the winter. If you can't become a Steelers fan I wouldn't go, though; that's mandatory. Also, be prepared for a very dreary winter. Not huge quantities of snow but lots of overcast skies and flurries most days.

do your interviewing in February, so you get a taste of winter as it impacts getting around, dressing for interviews (boots in snow or dress shoes?).

buy long underwear.

Do yourself a favor and move to central VA, NC, or as someone else pointed out east Tenn.

These areas provide the seasonal feel of the eastern midwest, but you are still in the South.

If you're hellbent on midwestern living, move to Chicago.

Colorado, Montana or Wyoming would be my choice. If you are a roughneck then move to North Dakota. It's the tits right now.

If that's really what you want to do, I say go for it! And I sincerely wish you all the best.

Most others have mentioned everything you need to know. Indiana is a college town, if you don't work for the University or school district it's going to be tough getting a well paying job.

But the advantages of Indiana PA is virtually no crime. I've lived in towns similar to Indiana in PA and I've never locked my car or front doors. One house I didn't even have keys to for a few years. Left on vacation for a week and left the front door unlocked.

I to would like to move somewhere else. I'm tired of the heat and the stupidity. I want some mountains but be close to a beach. I visited Maine this summer. Beautiful but I'm sure it's a bitch in the winter. Maybe Kentucky or out west.
