An old friend from childhood (since 93) died from cancer this morning. He leaves behind a grieving wife, three beautiful little girls, and a mother who now has to say goodbye to her child. It breaks my heart. He was only 36.
One of my oldest friends officially moved away today. We met in the USMC in 97. Our wives both gave birth in the same month/at the same NC hospital. We all moved back together and have lived just down the road from each other since we met on December 29, 1997 (day I reported to Camp Lejuene). Our daughters have danced together since they were tiny. Now they are five hours away. They will be living on the beach, though, so we have a built in vacation...but it is tough seeing your buddy go.
:sigh:
I just wanted to get this off my chest. I haz a sad.

Sorry to hear it.
All you can do is continuously strive to have the best year of your life. Nostalgia is sweet but sour as well.

You'll get shitty responses but things can always get worse.
Be thankful for what you have and take nothing for granted. Ever.

Buy yourself some beer. You earned a few today. Time is the one thing we all have in common. Though it is allotted to us all unevenly, it's the only true cure for what ails you.
Sorry for your loss. Hits home as your friend and I are the same age (36).
Drink one for me this afternoon bud.

I usually get to wait until I get home from work to hear this kind whining.

Get off the computer, and go get you a nice long run in.

Very sorry for your loss and for the children's loss of a father.
These days are woven into the fabric of our life so we can appreciate the good days.

Drinking a rare bourbon because you are sad? If you are going on a sad drinking binge, you should probably go with something a little less expensive IMHO.

Sorry to hear about your buddy. What type of cancer did he have?

Sorry to hear about this. You seem to be handling it pretty well. Look into stoicism (the actually philosophy, not just acting stoically).

He had lymphoma. I think I spelled that correctly...
It was discovered late.

After the life I lived pre-18, I tend to handle most situations better than those around me. It doesn't means things don't affect me, but most people simply wouldn't realize it.
