re: Hyundai Santa Fe

I have built the Santa Fe for six years - five and a half years in Montgomery before they moved production to West Point. Some production just moved back to the Montgomery plant recently. As far as the quality and reliability, they are just fine. Well built and the styling has improved the last few years. I would not hesitate to recommend one to anybody.

Depends on which model you get. Many opt for the sport suspension not realizing that the ride and handling will be different due to the "stiffness" of the front and rear suspensions. Most Voice of Customers who mention handling fall in the "sport" category.

My wife has a 2012, and the only complaint I've ever had were the stock Kumho tires.

I bet a dollar my 2004 Highlander is a much smoother ride.

I personally have a Tacoma that has 250k on it and it still drives like a champ. The ride... meh.
As far as the ride in a vehicle that is 13 years old vs a new vehicle, I would take that bet... even as much as I like Toyota's.

I have met exactly one person with a santa fe. They have gone through 2 secondary cars in the time I've known him. Santa fe is a champ (I don't drive one)

5 years or 60k miles is bumper to bumper, which is transferable. Not 10yr or 100k, that is original owner or if purchase certified.
Toyota Highlander is best vehicle (in this class) out there. Sorento is just a Hyundai, but cheaper and depreciates the hardest of any brand I have been around. GL

It should be. It costs an average of around $4-5k more than most in the midsize SUV segment.

Had a 2004 Santa Fe for 8 years and loved it. Drove it on a combined Route 66 / PCH run and it rode like a champ.

We had an 03 Santa Fe, the last year they made both a 2.7 liter and a 3.1. Far better gas mileage in the smaller engine, so we went with that since we were living in Germany and gas was crazy expensive.
That vehicle drove thru something like 13 countries, in snow, ice, mountains, over 100 mph on the autobahn, everywhere. On the stock Kuhmo tires.
Just after we rolled 200,000 miles, at ten years old, 2013, we sold it to my dad. He's put another 20k on it, with only a few small problems . In the 10 years I owned it, there were very few issues with it, all minor stuff. Maintenance things like belts needing changed, fluids leaking. The cord that connected the hood release stretched out one winter because of ice, so I couldn't open the hood for a few weeks. That was literally it as far as breaking down.
ETA: both engines in the LX model, I think the lower end ones still had smaller engine.

I have 40,000 on a Santa Fe with zero problems, my only complaint is the rear seat cup holder rattles when it's open with nothing in it. My aunt has a 2010 with over 200,000 miles...... no problems. Hyundai makes nice vehicles these days.

Every Hyundai car I've been in or by sounds and rides like crap.
No experience with the suvs, but generally people that toss around warranties that sound better than everyone else's is a gimmick and your likely buying a piece of shite.
I could be wrong, and sounds like a lot of people here have had good experiences with the Same Fe, but I'll stick to the Highlander.
