If a war were to break out within the next few years, and being that the military has downsized needs help, they initiate the draft..how many of the modern day citizens from the draft eligible age group would flee the country?

Also, would women be involved?

Depending on who's president, many people will likely have already left.

Depends if the candidates think the war is justified or not.

If we're fighting on American soil, frick em. Cowards. If it's abroad, hope my kids and grandkids join them in fleeing.

not as many as you think.

For a war to break out that is large enough to require a draft, I'm going to assume the US was attacked in a manner similar to Pearl Harbor

Americans would rise to the occasion once again. Kicking someone's arse after they hit us first is simply in our DNA

The Hypos versus the Theticals?

I'm on the Theticals' side, more dogmatic.

I really dislike how you presented this question, as if to suggest that the common American (or I guess millennial is what you really wanted to say) is now such a pussy that they would flee the country in a time of war. That's BS. I would proudly serve my country in a time of need.

All the women since they're now eligible for combat roles.

First off, war is so technologically/cyber driven nowadays that there likely won't be a need for a massive boots on the ground army a la WW2 or even Vietnam.

Secondly, if we think the cause is just or were legitimately threatened as a nation, like both sides felt in the civil war and the World Wars, then most people who are drafted will definitely go. If they were to institute a draft to invade some tinpot dictators country in the Middle East then frick that.

More interesting question is does the draft include women now that they're allowed to hold every single job in the military that a man can?

You mean like 9/11?

While i would not be a draft dodger, i can't see an instance where we would need more bodies to fight a war now a days when someone in Tampa can control a drone that can bomb a city and then go home to his family, ask his kids how their day at school was, practice baseball with his kid in his backyard, have dinner as a family, watch some tv, do his wife, go to sleep, and then do it all over again.
