Meh, I go down it every morning around 630. From that Capital one toward the high school and the interstate. Flows fine for me, sucks for you.

As a general rule, traffic doesn't exist in the 5-Parish Metro Baton Rouge area at that time of the morning anyway. But I would like to see what its like during rush hour.

AP wanted 4 lanes with turn lanes in 18 months, DOTD said you'll get 3 in 42 months and like it!

Hahaha. You're the AP guru. What were some specifics on why it went from 4 to 3 and the setbacks if you know of them or have links to the Creole/Etc?

I just know I've driving along that shitshow for 4 yrs and then some with pizza and kids at SJP(STA now whew).

I love how people immediately blame the parish for a state hwy construction project.

State DOTD claiming poverty. Same reason why highway 30 is only 3 lanes instead of 5 and why Brightside is 3 instead of 4.

This was most definitely NOTHING to do with AP.

I've been watching the private sector blow up on all the major arteries from Neighborhood Walmart to Leblanc's, strip malls, etc. and ONE road has been widened in this 4 yr span.

Oh wait. And a roundabout at Freds.

No. I don't keep up with that stuff. I naively assumed that with such a large scale and time consuming project they would actually do something that would involve planning for the next 20 years.

From what I heard, but not excusing it, it was:

Weather
Sewer problems
Old gas pipelines needing to be replaced
Not-in-my-backyarders
Contractor foul ups

Basically, standard procedure for a state project.

So its the state's fault for the contractor foul ups, weather, residents, the O&G industry?

Gotcha marked down.

The states bidding policy is to blame. Get better contractors by not going with shady low-bidders.

I-10 Expansion from split to Highland is perfect example.

What would the I-12 example be? You know the one that was finished so early and done so well that saved so much money that they'll end up being able to 6-Lane all the way out to Satsuma? Instead of just past Juban like before?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

When is EBR going to fix I-10/I-110 split west bound? Yeah, I know who is responsible for that major frickup but I figger while we acting ignorant and comparing jurisdictions that are no longer any different than the other (except for the 2 area codes in B.R.)

And the lesson in all this...

You can run to another parish, but you still live in South Louisiana. AP becomes more like EBR every year.

Hwy 73 construction was so dumb. Took too long. Took too much money. Only three lanes. The hardest part is laying the underground infrastructure like wiring, gas lines, and drainage. It would have been ingenious to lay it for a future fourth lane but they didn't so if they ever want to add a lane it will be as miserable as this construction when it didn't have to be.

Also that extravagant turning lane that goes right into airline hwy towards Gonzales is hilarious. Who will use it? They should have enhanced the turn at Post Office road which is where anyone with a brain turns right.

Have you seen traffic in the morning? It flows like shite. That turning lane did absolutely nothing to help the traffic heading toward the interstate and Geismar.
That's AP's solution to every road overcrowding issue- a turn lane. Maybe once, when a family sells an old pasture and it's developed into a one road subdivision that adds 50 cars to the only road to get somewhere on, they'll make developers pay for fourth lanes.

More like DOTD gonna DOTD.

It will be 4 laned eventually but knowing our luck it will take a couple decades before that happens.
